Detailed Instructions for Transferring a Tattoo Stencil
Step 1: Get the Skin Ready
Making sure the skin is prepared and clean is the first step in applying a stencil. The skin area needs to be cleaned and disinfected in this step. Kindly adhere to the steps listed below.
- Wash and moisten the intended tattoo area with green or blue soap.
A helpful tip is to always sanitize an area bigger than the intended size of the tattoo in order to prevent any possible bacterial invasion during stencil placement.
- To get rid of body hair, use a disposable shaver.
Advice: Use tattoo tissue to carefully remove hair after shaving.
Please disinfect your skin using the 75% alcohol solution.
Before proceeding to the next step, make sure the skin is completely dry.
Step 2: Use the Gel for Tattoo Stencils.
The stencil gel must be applied to the skin in this step. For a clear stencil transfer, it is essential. The gel facilitates the stencil's skin adhesion.
- Using circular motions, gently massage the tattoo stencil transfer gel into the skin. It only takes an even sheer layer.
Advice: Applying too much paint can cause the paint to smear. If you think you went too far, you can either use tattoo tissue to remove the excess or let the gel air dry.
Step 3: Set up the stencil and apply it
For the best results, the stencil must be applied and positioned precisely.
- Gently place the stencil onto the skin, making sure it is stationary and free of bubbles. Please watch the Dragoart video tutorial below for further information.
Advice: Start by letting the skin's center of the stencil paper touch it.
Advice: Press the stencil outward from the center using tattoo tissue or a gentle towel.
- Dry the stencil slightly with a hair dryer set to low heat, keeping it about 10 cm from the skin.
The stencil will become firmer after this process.
Step 4: Take the Stencil Off and Allow Skin to Dry
Taking off the stencil transfer paper and letting the skin dry is the last step.
- It's time to peel the stencil transfer paper approximately ten seconds after using the hair dryer. If the skin feels tight, that's another indication that it's time to take off the stencil transfer paper. Gently peel it off.
A smeared result will result from waiting too long or letting the stencil transfer paper dry too quickly.
- Give the stencil ten to fifteen minutes to air dry. The canvas is then prepared for the magical tattooing process.
Advice: If the skin lifts slightly along with the transfer paper when you peel it off, the transfer was successful.
A fundamental ability for any tattoo artist to possess is the ability to transfer tattoo designs. Perfect and precise stencil transfers are always possible with the correct equipment and method.
